Interspersed with patriotic songs, I guess.
    Everyone sing along...

Anyway! to all HKers and Geo Expat members .... enjoy your dip
Its more fun when there is CHAOS everywhere, I shall be looking forward to smacking some people tomorrow in the packed shek o beach

Thats actually not so far from the truth. Before beaches closed last time around I hanged out at Shek O. A small lady walks around non-stop reminding people to put on masks, people take them off 5s after she moved on. Loudspeakers indeed blasting about mask wearing. You got to love HK, masks being the covid shield that will save us all. Except if you are going in for a swim of course, then you can take it off, but being so close to salty water means you can not transmit covid, so no problem..

When will HK accept the science that covid-19 is transmitted indoors by being in close proximity for an extended time with an infected adult not wearing a mask?

Based on discussions with people on the ground, never.

The level of paranoia and misinformation about covid is bonkers here.

But I also think a lot of it is to do with the fear of getting dragged to a quarantine centre I'd you were deemed in close contact.

Then rules around what is a close contact need to be published! This really isn't rocket science any more.

Tell that to the HK government. Also I understand the HK government has quite wide discretion on how they define close contact.

Can't speak for Shek O, but it was about the best I've seen it at Golden Beach - I guess a lot of people haven't been chucking rubbish all over the place for some months. Cool enough for good distance swimming, but comparatively few people were actually in the water.
The sand was open all the way through Cafeteria Old, and it was crowded with mostly families but there was still room for kids to run around and dig holes or make sandcastles without bugging other beachgoers. I noticed that maybe a third of people's masks somehow slipped off after the lifeguards left at 6pm.

I was totally wrong about today, the bus line to shek o was long BUT there was many buses provided so the line moved very fast, when we go to Shek o, it was NOT rammed pack, plenty of space and the water was crystal clear, bit cold when u 1st get in but very nice aftewards when you get used to it. we went to the far right side of the beach at the BBQ shop, plenty of space outside, lots of tents set up, some people even brought out small portable gas cooker bbq which looked brilliant.

Water keep on getting lower tide but still was very nice n clear, great for the kids as not many big waves.

Only shit thing about the beach today was NOT all the shower/changing room facilities were open, they only opened the one so everyone had to use that
