Hollywood style car chase and police shootout in HK

Well, this is something you don't see everyday in HK, a car chase and police shootout in Sha Tin. This grey honda was trying to get pass this taxi (the one with the dash cam) and hit the bus in front of him several times. The police quickly arrived with their guns drawn and aimed it at the driver. One of the police officer then use his stick to break the car window and shot the driver.

The driver has been arrested for dangerous driving, not having a valid driver's license and other charges:

Now here's the question: What made the driver drive in this manner? Was he under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Was carrying drugs for his triad boss? Escaping some triad enemies and the police found out?

Can't edit the original post. The news said he was on his way to do a burglary, but with his wife and two year old in the car??? That doesn't make sense...so what is he really doing?

The officer changing his gun from his dominant to non dominant hand to attempt open the door seems like poor training.

That didn't look like a very appropriate - or even productive - use of force? Draw your gun on a vehicle with a two year old?

Drawing the gun in the first place was likely an unnecessary escalation. It led the driver of the car to panic and it seemed like he was prepared to mow the cop down.

Gotta love it when people make judgment about a situation with virtually no information nor any law enforcement training apart from watching CSI type shows...

The cop obviously should have use stern warnings and his most serious eyes to stop that car

True. Although risking the safety of his own wife and kid seems like a rather poor choice on balance. Ah well, I suppose if he was smart and can think logically, he would not have resorted to a career as a burglar.

You're doing exactly the same thing once conceited post after another. You just assume you are right all the time so are unable to notice
