The problem as I have found is the experts are caught up now in the hysteria now ike many others e . They're human : some do lose perspective and common sense . It doesn't invalidate everything they do but it's making life difficult more than it need be .
This morning I tried to argue the case I surely don't need further test in the remote chance I am asymptomatic carrier for corona : no dice . also need pcr same as unvaccinate even though no contact no symptoms always masked etc etc. So I asked OK should I also get a TB smear done ? Or a measles pcr or hiv rna done ?because better odd I am now carrying that stuff that much more dangerous stuff than corona : but no dice : just tick the Box negative corona test : that decision also by an expert but totally illogical and he knows it .
That's how to frame many expert opinions long on expertise short on common sense logicality practicality etc

Neither would I, but if they had cross infections in hotels they would extend the quarantine to more than 14 days. They don't though, which makes me think they don't have any cases coming from the quarantine hotels.

My guess is that in china most of their hotels allow windows to be opened and fresh air to come in.. and since their air are generally less moist the risk of cross contamination due to air movement in hotel are really minimal ?

It's possible to get covid from touching a surface but it's also not likely:

It is theoretically possible, but highly unlikely, says Dean Blumberg, MD, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at UC Davis Children's Hospital. "You'd need a unique sequence of events," he says. First, someone would need to get a large enough amount of the virus on a surface to cause infection. Then, the virus would need to survive long enough for you to touch that surface and get some on your hands. Then, without washing your hands, you'd have to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Granted, in this case, if it's a door hook, there won't be much time for the covid to perish, because most people would usually pick up their meal from the door hook probably within minutes after its delivered. But I assume the employees in the hotel are wearing rubber gloves and wearing all the other necessary PPE to prevent transmission of covid. So I'm not so sure about the door hook theory.

Most likely people in the hotel caught in from the air somehow.

China is back to 14+7 since the two sessions are over. And the "+7" has never been strictly enforced. At least outside of Beijing. Depends entirely on your local police station. If you live somewhere expensive in Shanghai or Shenzhen they leave you alone, just need another PCR test after 7 days. If you live in Shanghai you can do 7 days at the hotel and 7 days at home.
