Penny Bay - Best Network for Data Coverage

From a friend who had to quarantine in Penny Bay - Internet is slow. If you need to connect 2-3 (or more) devices to the internet, better to buy a wifi dongle/router with a SIM (unlimited use for a month). He got it for around 800 HKD (including the SIM) from Chung King Mansion. There would be other places (wanchai computer center etc.) selling these.

Its such a miserable fail, I presume most people in there would need a reliable connection to work. I for sure would need a strong connection to be on Teams calls through my company VPN.

The network is some China mobile or Sun or any one of those used by people for traveling (when it was possible). Basically, the SIM is pre-loaded with data for a month (and it works well). The SIM can be recharged for a 100 bucks every month thereafter. Just have to go to the shop in Chung King Mansion. I asked this specifically. The guy said he can recharge at the shop. Maybe there is a way where the SIM can be recharged via an SMS so a monthly visit to the shop is not needed. Would have to check with the shop on this.

Yes valid from when the SIM is activated. Easy plug and play. The router/dongle is the expensive part, for around 700.

buy SOSIM card from checkout counters at Parknshop, Fusion, Great, Fortress. they only cost $33 for 50GB data. works great at Penny Bay. I put into a spare mobile phone and Hotspot to my laptop for work and Tablet for Netflix. 1 hr of Netflix eats up 5GB, so get 2 or 3 SOSIM cards.

You can also topup SOSIM on the phone right instead of buying a few cards?
