I was on the MTR and listening to a conversation between some government officials. They actually said cardboard collecting grandmas are a good sign, saying it shows the "spirit of self-reliance" and strong "work ethic" of the city, that they don't rely on handouts like the welfare queens of the "corrupt West". I felt like giving them a swift right hook when I heard that. How can anyone take pride in the sorry plight of these cardboard elders?! Do they have any idea what these cardboard elders go through? And not just them, how about those who stayed overnight at McDonalds because their tiny sorry excuse of a home is too small and lacking in air con in the oppressive summers of HK? Have these high and mighty officials thought of them?! Do they have any idea of the suffering they go through?
That arrogant smug smile I saw on that official face filled me with anger. How out of touch can these people be?! The gall that these people have. I just had to shake my head in dismay.

The Police have chosen not to use data they could get to improve enforcement. I am not aware of any plans to do so. They seem to currently be focussed on a mobile video system that will auto ticket long term stayers.
