I would imagine its other way around, school children could be replenished from over the border once dust settles but hard to replace CANTONESE SPEAKING teachers same as doctors..

Cross-border students typically have HK residency but live in Shenzhen because their parents work there or simply because it’s cheaper. They have been unable to attend school in HK since the start of the pandemic. Those who choose to remain enrolled have had to endure online classes. Obviously many have already decided to switch to mainland schools and are therefore counted as part of the student outflow. Total number was in the tens of thousands before the pandemic.
@qhank "tens of thousands" unless you have data to dispute it I will call you on this. Several thousand maybe. A couple of thousand, more likely.
On another issue. The main problem is in the unis' where mainlanders are continuing to erode places for locals, with the protagonist excusing this with " any HK student may attend any mainland uni with no examination.". Because .that would be valuable to a HK student .... Not.
This wiki page has not been updated... It does seem to indicate that we have at a min 10K students crossing the borders, or enrolled in HK from across the road..
Will try and dig around for more stats later.
