HK: Covid Restriction Extension Press Conf @ 6PM

CableTV report - press conference this afternoon.

Will add more info if and when I find anything more substantial.

Also expecting some relief measures to be announced for various sectors. I don't think they'll announce a handout for those of us who are triple vaxxed.

It is reported that the government will announce in the afternoon that the existing social distancing measures will be extended for another two weeks until February 3. The catering industry said it had already expected that the measures would be extended, and felt helpless. They believed that the government should also consider the livelihood of the industry when controlling the epidemic.
The Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, will hold a press conference at 6:00 pm today (14th), and will announce the extension of measures such as the ban on dine-in in the evening market and the closure of listed premises for 14 days to the third day of the new year, and will cancel the flower market in Hong Kong .

    In attendance:

    1. Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam
    2. Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr John Lee
    3. Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan
    4. Director of Health, Dr Ronald Lam
    5. Head of Human Resources Planning and Poverty Co-ordination Unit of Chief Secretary for Administration's Private Office, Ms Angelina Kwan
    • CE: Will introduce handout 5.0

      - Because of the circuit breaker - fell from 180 cases to 140 cases. Only 200 odd passengers arriving per day - number of imported "linked" cases are growing (perhaps because everyone is imported linked..). So far the only one who is not linked physically is the supermarket product handler however the gene sequence links her to the flight attendant.

      - Number of cases has not grown geometrically and this is a good sign.

      - All cases where gene sequences are linked to CX crew.

      - Have seen reduced mobility from Octopus and other data.

      - Two cases of vertical transmission, more than 1 super spreader and many cases which have not been vaxxed. May have silent chain(s) of transmission in Tuen Mun district.

      Announcement

      - All measures extended to Feb 3rd.
      - Large scale events like CNY fairs will be cancelled. As will trade events etc
      - Circuit breaker for flights extended to 4th of Feb
      - After the fourth day - will be reducing restrictions progressively
      - Vaccine bubble - Advanced (no date given) will match the relaxations mentioned above
      - Next week - will accept applications for handout 5.0 for 2.57B HKD
      - Reserving funding for 6.0 and remaining payments
      - 5.0 handout - Premises - F&B, Beauty, Sports, Arts Practitioners and Cross Boundary Passenger & Tourism Sector
      - Offering "1/2 of the amount of 4.0" for premises and 2/3rds for individuals (check details later .. she is all over the place with sq meters and licenses etc)
      - Handout to Include those who are affected by suspension of in person classes - subsidy for child care centers / tutorial centers / some primary schools / some school bus drivers & cos.
      - Carnival and fairs - refund + 50% of what was paid for licenses etc to govt.

Thats it from me ... time for happy hour..

Seeing that in local media too..

[14:16] According to news, all flower markets in Hong Kong have cancelled the government’s announcement to extend the ban on dine-in in the evening market and the closure of listed premises for 14 days until the third day of the new year.
I think it was on HK01 .. browser tab is closed.
