    Call for Blood Donations

Looks like the HA / Red Cross are not meeting their regular blood donation quotas.

    Urgent-ish call for donations.

    Thumbs up

That brought back memories of the Sultanate of Oman about 45 years ago where I could get a hospital hand-out of Rials Omani 10 for "an armful" <That was about HK$200 or so I think>, so I made a habit of it up in Muscat, every few months.

It all added to the "kitty" I got for selling unique (to my non travelled companions) HK oil paintings, and my supply of non-legit Apple ][ computers and programs.

{It all helped in securing our own flat here} !!!

When I was transferred to Salalah way down in the South of Oman, I continued "Blood-letting" --> and was once astonished that the doctor from the local hospital dropped by to thank me for my (rather) rare A negative blood which he needed to save some AB negative local from death.

Later on, when I had quit being a Mercenary, I used to freely donate at the Red Cross collection point in Causeway Bay - That was till they refused further free donations due to my Diabetes & "Old Age" (then) but I have lived a further 20+ years and so they missed so many free donations !! [I'm now 81 y.o] ---> so many "armfuls that they "lost" !!

So, please people, drop by the Blood Collection Points and donate some of life's liquid - you will never know when YOU might need someone else's blood to "P.A.L" = Prolong Active Life" <With apologies to stealing away the slogan in "PAL meat for dogs" from some 45+ years ago>.

Remember to check your eligibility first. E.g most Brits and French aren't allowed to donate

So very true. I used to have a lifetime ban. Now I would just have to be completely celibate for 3 months. I think that would upset my spouse. :-)
