Contact Tracing, LHS App and... (Its Coming..)

Health authorities may in future call up people who need to be tested for Covid-19 or sent into quarantine using contact information provided in the LeaveHomeSafe app.
There's a huge jump from 'you scan QR code, get notified if there's a place/time match with a confirmed case' to 'restaurant scans your QR code, keeps your details, you get hunted down if there's a place/time match'.

In no way to I want to minimize any impact... but I'd have thought that this is how "state mandated" contact tracing should work anyways.

It is not really optional ... if you're to be traced, then you will be traced.

The issue with this and other random things like voluntary self-testing and surrendering yourself to the govt is what happens AFTER you've been traced and tested.

Can't say I am surprised by this, if you look at the way the authorities have been responding, this was pretty much inevitable...

“In the past, for some reason, some individuals were late to undergo [mandatory] tests, perhaps their phones were not connected to the internet and they didn’t get the notification,” he said.
In other news, airplane mode becomes popular again, despite population still largely being unable to travel .

Don't know when they'll realise that people will be encouraged to get tested if quarantine is relaxed or if wages during quarantine are covered (or why not straight up pay people?)

Not in HK. If one is a working class folk, too many of their HK employers, using the pandemic and quarantine as an excuse, nickel and dime their salary until they almost work for nothing.
