    HK gov't fuck-up called out!

During SARS in 2003 the government learned that the virus can and will spread through sewage and ventilation pipes. Now two decades later in 2022 with COVID-19 this virus is still spreading out the same way.
Why didn't the government do anything to rectify the known problem in building design during all this time?
Current spread of omicron is also the government's fault as the initially healthy Pakistani woman was infected during the last days of hotel quarantine.
Why nobody is crying out loud about the total unsuitability of Hong Kong hotels as quarantine grounds? Why nobody complains about this arrangement which is only to keep the hotels afloat?

There is no doubt the Hong Kong government are are useless as a nuns cunt, but the spread of the virus is inevitable and no government on earth is able to prevent, just simply delay and suppress, and HK is actually a world leader along with New Zealand and a few other random places in delaying the inevitable.

There is no such thing as virus proof sewage and ventilation systems, and even if there was, this is mainly an airborne virus, just walk outside, go to dinner, you will catch it soon anyway, so whats the point trying to virus proof sewage systems when only a tiny fraction of the virus spreads in this way?

On the hotels, I am not sure your point on this. Are you saying scrap quarantine altogether? Or you are saying they should be building more purposes built quarantine facilities like Penny's Bay, or the recently completed 5000 room Guangzhou international health station?

    There is no accountability, OP.

    You're right.

Why is nobody 'complaining'? Or perhaps protesting? Study the National Security Law and you may find some answers.

I'm pretty sure ventilation within dense apartment blocks is the same the world over... anywhere with windowless bathrooms obviously has the bathrooms in the core of the building and there's no way in the world every single one has an independent duct to the outside world. Sure you can have a little spring loaded flap to stop backdraught but they're hardly foolproof.

Floor drains are also pretty common in Europe and I'm sure exactly the same suction transmission thing could happen there if they dry out. Never seen a floor drain in the UK other than in a wet room... but have seen plenty instances of bathroom floods causing enormous damage to units below. I'd probably take the flood proofing given the choice!

Give it a week and we can hopefully stop talking about Pakistani women and air crew and people will have to finally wake up to the fact covid is in “the community”. Then we either burn even more resources on testing everyone in the population 2-3 times within a week or we take the next small step towards living with it.

Correction, there is accountability. But not to the average citizen on the street...

Re: virus proof sewage or ventilation system
I meant the gov is evacuating people from buildings with problematic pipes, while deeming other buildings as "ok" when they can't find such problems.
So if the nun's cunt had taken action to fix the problem identified already in 2003, there would be less buildings now in 2022 where the virus still readily spreads thru pipes?

And the hotels, gov should admit that type of quarantine is not working, quite the contrary.

Are you new here? It’s all working. They can control the narrative and that is ultimately all they care about. It’s not about virus control, saving us, keeping us safe. None of that. It’s all about blaming anyone but themselves. This is why elderly won’t get vaccinated. It’s not their problem, it’s everyone else’s.

Welcome to HK if you’re new, you’re in for a wild ride. I don’t think you are though…so what changed recently for you? The rest of us are all still in early 2020.
