A bit strange, went to some market stalls (just outside the wetmarket) and supply was abundant (with higher prices than before), but went late to the supermarket and that looked quite bleak, lots of empty shelf spaces.

Hong Kong has banned eggs from pretty much every country except China, because of some avian flu thingy.

Freight trains to Lo Wu and barges will operate in addition to trucks now.

Graham street market in Central is awash with fruit and veg - Everything is available. in quantity. Most stuff is 30-100% more expensive but not all, and they still sell a few end-of-line fruit and veg cheap ($5 for a large, 'past it's best' papaya etc).

$15 for a very large broccoli.
    Gar lan $24/catty.
    Carrots $25/kg
    Cherry tomatoes $22/kg
    $20 for 3 mixed peppers

    You're welcome.... (not wellcome)

Nice stuff. I actually think this sort of info could start to become useful in a thread of its own. A bit like the bog roll rush!

Supermarket whack-a-mole continues. No fresh veggies (aside from salad ingredients), milk, fresh meat, and canned soup. Tons of toilet paper in stock however.

Probably plenty of $80 Emmental, too! We made a little inventory of what we have a couple of weeks ago, stocked up on pasta, beans, etc., but I sure do hope this passes soon... I already went through my stash of carrots and celery.
