    Gabriel Leung - Lockdown HK

AND HERE WE GO......... from RTHK News

"A government advisor on the pandemic, Gabriel Leung, has urged the government to consider putting the entire city under lockdown, saying no other social distancing measures will be able to contain the Omicron outbreaks.

He did not say how long the city-wide lockdown should be, but his team of researchers estimated that reducing the movement of people for two to three months by a lockdown will greatly reduce deaths from Covid infections."

The guy needs to be sent to the Jockey Club ASAP ... and hopefully turned into a paperweight.

    It already is.

It's about time this government stop crying wolf and react to this disease for what it is. Save the drama for diseases like ebola.

    But there's this:
He also said there's no longer a public health rationale to send inbound travellers to designated hotels for quarantine and they can quarantine at home instead, adding that flight bans should be lifted as the risk of local infection exceeds importation.
Would be nice to finally put my family's ashes to rest!!!

I am still predicting a lockdown, the HK government is panicking hour by hour and China is not happy with the high numbers.

3 months lockdown then open international travel?

I'd almost do it, save for the likelihood that we'd do the lockdown and then they'd change their minds about opening up.

    Is there any other option?

I suspect essential workers and one visit to the supermarket per day. Will it lead to arrests of asylum seekers who have no room to live?

No, the cases will go up the moment the lockdown is lifted sometime in May or June this year.

It would be more realistic to expect that we can go back to the current level of restrictions (for a few weeks at least) over the summer.

I got a completely different impression reading this Twitter thread of someone who watched Dr Leung’s presentation.
