When will schools reopen face to face?

Like many parent we are struggling on when to leave Hong Kong. The "if" part of the question has been sorted, the situation here is too unsustainable and unpredictable to stay here as an international family with one kid studying in Europe.

I know that this is a bit of crystal ball gazing but I have the option to work remote anywhere in Asia and with remote learning, I could offer my child a possibility to at least after the online lessons a possibility to have a relatively normal life with the possibility to go out, meet other kids.

The only thing preventing us to leave within this month is the possibility of face to face classes resuming before the summer and being stuck/ unable to return in another country.

    • Schools will resume face to face in April
    • Schools will resume face to face in May
    • Schools will resume face to face only after the summer vacations

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Additional info on our school, GSIS:
"Management is hopeful to return to face-to-face classes after the Easter holidays"

Easter holidays are planned from April 11-22, meaning a possible resumption on April 25th

They’ll try to get the kids into class before June to appease pissed off parents. I wouldn’t wait around for that if your plan is to leave. Just go.

If it your child is in kindergarten, K3s will probably resume face-to-face in June/July at the earliest.

Nursery, K1 and K2 don't expect face-to-face till next year.

I would just go asap (this is what we also plan).
Our son's school is totally cool about people leaving Hong Kong temporarily and many families have done so/will do so soon.
That's why I assume the schools know (even though they need to be officially optimistic) that remote learning is going to continue for quite a while - my take is until the end of the school year.

The schools don’t know anything. Nor does the EDB.
