    UK BNO Scheme Expanded ...

People born on or after July 1, 1997, and aged 18 or over will be eligible to independently apply for British National Overseas visas from the autumn.

The current scheme only permits those born after 1997 to come with their parents.
Those eligible will be able to bring their partners and children under 18 years and adult relatives who have a high level of dependency.

My daughter holds a UK passport and she called British Consulate to ask whether her daughter who was born in HK 1998 n holds a SAR passport is qualified
They told her no simply because she gave up her BNO passport for an UK one … which didn’t make sense

Your daughter got British Citizenship/Passport through you by Descent ?? so she couldnt hand it down to her kid I assume so your Granddaughter will have to apply family visa.

If she is older than 18 doesn't she qualify for entry through this new expansion of the scheme?

Because her Parent already Holds a full British Passport they will want her to come through on the family visa and not BNO extended visa which is for parents that still hold BNO passports. This is what I think they are trying to do.
