In Hong Kong, really? I know this is a problem in the UK, but HKers are usually pretty good at having consideration for colleagues if they're coughing everywhere... I'd say it's much less socially acceptable to go to work when you're sick here.

In my office you're expected to push through and work (by expats) and push through and work while wearing a mask to avoid infecting others (by locals)

In general, in HK, many employees are paid by the day and if they don't show up for any reason they lose that wage

Working from home now and again is part of the company culture also, so it's OK.
