The noon day gun is surprisingly covert for a routine public explosion.

In a manner of speaking, yes it appears covert because HK Island, in and around Causeway Bay is extremely noisy. The noon day gun has to compete with the rest of the cacophony that is, Hong Kong.

Well aware the Excelsior is no more ... have no clue what the new building is and saying across from the World Trade Center is bound to confuse some folks..

For the record - it is bookable ... used to be a favorite on people's bucket list before the left HK. Don't have a clue what the donation to fire it is these days.

30+ Years in HK, never ever saw the noon day gun fired or heard it fired. I must not be a noon day person . walked past it or drove past it many times.

I was only in HK for 3 years in addition to experiencing a pandemic and protests that changed then place forever, I saw far more than most permeant residents I met had ever seen. Working just part time helped. Whilst the wife was bringing home the serious money I saw the noon day gun, climbed every peak worth climbing, visited historic villages in the far northern parts of HK, visited every museum, etc etc.

That’s great but I’d wager that many migrants to the UK will see much more of the UK in 3 years than many born and bred have seen in a lifetime as they’re too busy holidaying in Ibiza, Benidorm etc. The country itself may be in a shit state but the countryside is spectacular.
