How about the driver? There was a car standing/waiting there. Might be for a reason, and in any case it's blocking the view. In Hong Kong I do expect that from time to time.

In any case, the fine is out of proportion considering that a car hitting a red light gets only $450 or so.

Exactly. And what about fines for the many, many drivers who turn and don’t indicate??? Incredibly dangerous and selfish

The government needs money. Just look at the recent election, how much money was wasted trying to get the voter % up.
Is infrastructure spending again for more orders to factories up north. The goose that lay the golden eggs is slowly dying.
Don't need Moody to tell us how bad things are in Hong Kong.

Exactly this. Real estate is dead (which is the vast majority of HK tax income), people are still moving out, especially young locals with kids and highly experienced expats, restaurants are closing left and right and being replaced with crappier ones, none of our esteemed "tourists" buys Gucci, Prada, LV bags anymore and instead go for 1/1000th the price bakehouse, Vission, Blue Bottle bags. It's yea... not looking up for HK anymore.

Agree the 2000 hkd is way over the top considering other fine levels. A little bit like the, what was it, 5000 hkd, that one had to pay if one gathered outside in groups more than 2 during Covid.

HK is expected to record a HK$ 110 billion budget deficit this year. How many people do you guys think they are gonna fine? 10 000? Hell, let's make it 100 000. That's HK$ 200 million, or 0.18% of the deficit - basically zero impact.

So I doubt they are doing it with the reason to make money, because the amount is insignificant. They are just brain dead degenerates in tackling the actual cause(s) of the problem again, this time trying to lower traffic accidents.

Forget Jaywalking, diagonal green-light walking is also illegal, you feckers just follow every line, quite literally..

This is a main feature of the crossing outside City One MTR and the Prince of Wales Hospital. Iv'e always thought of the crossing as a rare example of pedestrian friendliness in Hong Kong. It's one of my favourite crossings in HK. But of course...it's illegal. What a suprise.
