That decision has been made by the west already. Neither Google Gemini nor OpenAI ChatGPT are available in Hong Kong, China.

Neither bitcoin nor self driving cars destroyed thousands of jobs. AI does and will destroy millions more.

Hong Kong should have annual exhibition / conference on how AI is being used in various industries - driveless car, AI medical diagnosics, AI in investments, AI in shipping, etc

More importantly, how HKSAR government are using AI for public administrationa, politics and good goverance.

HK isn’t prepared for common sense and thinking outside of the box let alone AI!

I agree 100% but that is the Hong Kong's policy. However, I am not entirely sure that officials even know what Web3 means.

one example of many slow low tech Hong Kong, after nasty scaffolding collapse yesterday, the Labour dept. were quizzed by reporter about related incidents, by the same contractor, LD couldn't / wouldn't answer, they said they didn't have any record. 3 minutes on the internet would have found other deaths and I guess that's why the reporter knew to ask the question.

That is the marketing pitch to execs, not the reality. We still have a long way to go with basic automation and RPA (which is recently being marketed as AI). This is much like how a few years ago "GROUP BY" was marketed as machine learning during the ML / Data science hype cycle.

The hype doesn't bother me, it's probably keeping my stock indices propped up, but as a decision maker for this type of thing I have to identify hype.

You mean this sort of thing (alongside a National AI Strategy)

The City of London is the most likely place to be hit by AI disruption, a new government report has revealed. The City of London and the highly qualified financial professionals who work in it are the most likely victims of artificial intelligence (AI) disruption, a new government report has revealed.
“The finance and insurance sector is more exposed to AI than any other sector,” according to a new study by the Department of Education, released on Tuesday.
It also said employees with “higher levels of achievement” are generally more susceptible to the impacts of AI, especially if they work in London.
The City of London emerged as the most vulnerable area, five times more exposed to AI than the north-east of England due to its high concentration of professionals
