Jollibee takes over Tim Ho Wan, chain.

And my local Hongkie friends and family ( the few that didn't leave HKG) aren't particularly happy about it.

Don't get me wrong, if there was a way to make HK food any more generic than it already was, Jollibee will definitely put it on the deep fried path with a side of fries!

They already owned 92% of the Singapore parent company, Titan, they are just buying the other 8%. So your friends won't notice any change.

Jollibee own many many brands, few of which serve fries.

Read above, though chickenjoy would be good on any menu

I would take Jollibee over Tim Ho Wan's greasy and insipid dim sum any day. I still think that the Michelin inspectors have some weird bias for very mid HK restaurants. The fact that 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo has the same number of stars as EMP or Le Bernadin is just mind boggling.

I thought the HK guide was a Discover HK sponsored production, which meant that they have to award a few stars here and there..
