How about increasing MTR revenues and issuing a fixed penalty ticket for anyone that moves on the escalator?

In Nagoya there’s been a bye law in place since Oct 2023, where it’s illegal to walk up the escalators and people are required to stand still.

I hate it when they stand on both sides. I want to be able to walk up or down the escalator!
