With the current business exodus, the reality is indeed that the situation is now very different to the pre-2020 era HK, sadly no more.
Hilarious how you pull some testimonials, tweets or other case studies as evidence of a general state of affairs while it's just so much more... multi-faceted with positive and negative examples Your techniques of using generalising adverbs like "always" and "never" to desperately try to push your argument are also very... cute... and of course your musings about other people's intellectual capacity because they don't agree with the extreme drama that you try to paint here

Testimonials are just that... testimonials, statistics are statistics
Doesn't look too shabby (also including salary ranges):

Yes yes, in the good old times everything was better, yes businesses leave... and then new come. Times change, they become more... non-Western That's life

And again: you are still around here avoiding the greener pastures elsewhere, can't be too bad

It's very interesting is that you don't want to face the reality of HK's current predicament. For example the glut of shuttered stores in once thriving shopping malls and shopping streets, the property downward spiral, the business exodus, the disappearing job opportunities for Internationals etc., you all just desperately discount these as "just some testimonials". Meanwhile actually walking outside in Hong Kong would have to confront you daily with those. In contrast, news about the Ukraine war are also lies to you, and Putin is somehow just the victim in the Ukraine War. Tells you a lot.
Reminds me of this nice quote:
'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.' - George Orwell

Ukraine, Orwell, Putin... all these cute allusions here to put me in some kind of bracket

Hard to comprehend how one could still endure it here in this glut of shuttered stores, the less opportunities for (salty) "internationals", the (net?) "exodus" of businesses while there are countless greener pastures just waiting

These hundreds of companies coming and tens of thousands people moving here should have beforehand consulted with a venerated expert like Gatts

Happy weekend and success with frustration control management!

And your response is to reply with posting the HK govt website itself! You couldn't make this up if you tried, what's next. China Daily? Truly hilarious stuff. Thanks for the laugh out loud. This must be one of the worst self-owns I've seen in my many years here.

I know it must be indeed hard to comprehend for you but some people have loved ones and elderly to care for.

And your response is to counter-reply with another state-owned media "source"?

Anyhow it's your personal time, if you want to spend it being frustrated that's of course your choice while others just move on and smile No amount of self-entitlement and insults thrown at others who disagree with your doomsday cries will change it

Look where we are now. Hindsight is great I know but we are in a far worse position than we would have been.
You got slammed because it's a myopic view.

If you'd been here 30 years and watched the direction everything was moving you'd know that what came was coming for a long time and would have been here earlier except that:

The protests of the past s.l.o.w.e.d. i.t d.o.w.n. (Not sped it up). The last protest c.a.n.n o.t. be taken in isolation to all the events prior to it.

    Please understand that.

You seem to confuse public-owned with state-controlled. More studying to do for you.
