    China changed, the leader and the approach changed. The economy changed.

    I agree, but I would also add that the great reformer Deng was the last guy before Jiang (who was the boss when I arrived in HK). There's only been 4 in the last 46 years.

    And the great reformer was the same hand behind BJ89. The central path never really changed....yet, it just took a few light curves on route.
