    Why would rent go up?

Basically this would cause a lot of folks who can't afford a 90 square foot flat as it is into the market for 90 square foot flats.

Subdivided Units : how to help those living in them

I think we should do this steps by steps:

    (A) evict abusing tenants at Public Rental Housing (PRH), at least 25,000 per year

    (B) relocate families living in Subdivided Units to those vacated PRH or newly built PRH

    (C) SDU flats cleared can be re-instated to their original forms or be converted to their new legal forms

    (D) Once 90% of those living in SDU are re-located to PRH, then the registration of subdivided flats can get underway.

There’s several thousand units at Penny’s Bay going begging.(and about 90 rarely if ever used in Sai Kung). Not the most salubrious but better than existing facilities

There are not enough renovation workers to convert substandard SDU into complying Basic Housing Units.

A lot of people living in the worst of those places are addicts or mentally ill or both. Not sure if that's a result of living there or they're living there as a result of mental problems, but a lot of them are actually adjusted to the life and even though it's a nice thought, moving them to a new place might do as much harm as good. They would need a lot of supports besides a bigger place to live.

Sad to say but government should be focusing more on making sure no new people move into those places.
