Toulouse is quite nice from what I remember - no hellholes in that list.

Not as bad on this list ... Seems like the top 10 are high tax destinations.

I was surprised how high Auckland and Wellington rank. We went to Auckland last year (have an empty apartment to stay in). It's good for a break, but I was surprised how expensive things are (compared to AUD prices in Sydney). Driving around off peak (from City to suburbs), or out of city for overnighters is okay. Roads are good, public facilities are good. Didn't use public transport or medical Wellington is okay, but harder to get to, and you can easily get stuck depending on weather. It's airport is 'international' but doesn't get much direct international flights elsewhere.

New zealand is facing a cost of living and brain drain issues, with most of the better paying jobs in Australia and headquarters in Australia. There is free movement of labour between Australia and New Zealand. That said, Sydney is very pricey for accomodation.

If you are expat on USD$250k+ package, then lving is okay in any of the top 100 countries, even allowing for high taxes. Very surprised Capetown and Jburg where where just outside the top 100. Personal safety and very high taxes would be off-putting, balckouts and poor public services is turn-off. You can pay for private medical care, but the quality is very variable and some medical staff are downright dangerous.

London #1? Lol. There’s 1+ rape per hour, comparatively very high levels of crime and stabbings, drag queen shows in schools, a dirty subway that smells like pee and vomit, 20 genders on application forms, men that can get pregnant, no thanks.

I have a feeling that drag queen shows in schools and men that can get pregnant are not up high on the list of important factors for normal people when choosing a city
