Creativity at work in Italy (2014): printing 300 euro banknotes. Cannot be charged with counterfeiting as the banknote denomination doesn’t exist thus can’t be fake, just fraud.

Could be BS .. but sounded very plausible in the 90s.
There are $10,000 notes in circulation, but not sure who other than a bank would accept them.

As a kid I came across a million German Mark note. I checked the exchange rate, 8 to the Pound I think it was, thought I had become rich overnight. Not to be.

There were notes with a face value much higher than that.
I have seen billion ( Milliarden) German Marks notes and it seems 100 trillion ( Billionen ) was the highest note towards the end of inflation

    Take two...

Three men attempted to withdraw US$15 million (approximately HK$117 million) at a bank in Central using forged documents, resulting in one arrest.

The incident occurred around 11.20am on Tuesday at the Bank of China Tower, where the trio attempted to cash US$15 million with a cashier’s check.
