I'm sure I've seen those panda sculptures in Suzhou circa 2013.

The original 2 had 2 cubs and who is the Genius decided to get 2 more pandas? I am sure Ocean Park knew the cubs will be born healthy and what costs are we looking at to have 4 vs. 6 pandas? I guess parking tickets will offset the Pandas costs.

Winning the lottery is unexpected. All the Pandas keepers and Vets at Ocean Park were on a 3 - 6 months sabbatical or vacation. The cubs just popped out upon their return. What a nice surprise.

In USA, the cubs are NOT part of the "panda lease." Around a few years old, back to the Motherland (where they have never lived). Now, HK may be "special," but the panda leases are pretty clear and detailed contracts. And, yes, at least for USA pandas, that panda lease is hugely pricey. This is not the 70s getting Ling Ling and Hsing Hsing for free.
