    If they don't spend money here, what's the point of inviting them over?

    The tourist tax can be used to mitigate the increased demand on infrastructure and public services, to address the environmental and sustainable impact of tourism and to ensure an the tax burden is split equitably.

    They were very cheap compared to elsewhere.

    Yes it doesn't really matter for GEP as usually the employer pays.

    The government will scrap a student grant of HK$2,500 for each secondary, primary and kindergarten pupil in the city starting from the 2025-26 school year.

    To be honest, I think they gave up, better to import fully baked citizens through talent schemes.

    You're right, they should scrap the baby bonus too. More savings!

    Just import new babies from abroad, and charge them 1300 each for a visa.
