Not exactly! This has nothing to do with that, but some people wants to politicalize it as though the two are the same.
Most of the protestors don't give a Toss about the local residents, costs or anything else, only their own private agendas. everything else is a convenient red herring.
If the democrats were in charge, they all be touting this as having foresight and vision.

umm, its all politics and both are linked to the government not listening to the people.

If you don't think the railway link is not about politics then you really need to open your eyes.

I see the connection being people disagreeing with it, and providing good arguments against it, but the government and the establishment not listening and bulldozing the policy through using the corrupt legislative process.

In a more democratic system it is quite possible that this infrastructure project would go ahead; the difference would be that the Government supporting for it would have been elected with a manifesto calling for it. Otherwise the Government would be out of office by the next election.

I also see that HK Disneyland has released the figure that it lost HK$1.35 billion last year and HK$1.574 in 2008.

Has it ever made a profit?

They now claim it will see a profit in 2014.

It also claims that HK Disneyland has brought HK over HK$30 billion in economic benefits over the last four years. Where it got this figure from, only they know (i.e. probably from the air).

Since the train to China shares the same lines with the MTR I can see the point of building a separate high speed line. But why pay for the line all the way to GZ? Why not just to Shenzhen and let the Guangdong authorities pay for the rest.

I think he means pink dolphin.

The airport pretty much nearly wiped them out. The bridge will make sure they will be extinct.

Oh and the Government have show to care about "local residents, costs or anything else"? And have shown not to have any private agendas? That's the whole point, all of this only adds to the fact that a democratically chosen government would be more mindful when handling these things for fear of losing voters and not losing their tycoon buddies. Please think before you post.

    Another point:
let's remember the same people touting potentially lower fares are the ones making the wild estimates about ridership...lower fares when the shiny new 'Donald Tsang Express Rail Link' to nowhere actually opens for business? Again, I won't hold my breath.

I am not supporting the Government on this either. Both sides are as bad as each other. It's just that the pro democratic party are taking the moral high ground when in fact they are hypocritic and don't really care so long as they meet their own hidden agenda. It certainly isn't the welfare of the residents. They are just pawns in this political game.
