A cautionary tale or a business opportunity?

Meetup.com (a place where a number of us have been organising events such as scrabble and hiking) appears to have completely fallen flat on its face.

http://greentechgirl.com/internet/al...to-meetup-com/ Is just one link to this. There are many more if you google!

A cautionary tale, I think, for all web-based businesses to not spring surprises on users without some beta testing and feedback first .....

But I have to say, also a business opportunity for anyone who can quickly re-create the "pre-fiasco" meetup functionality.

And meetup groups are location specific, so one linked to an expat forum like this one might be a great idea.

    So - Shri - fancy a challenge?

Interesting but lacks the additional features such as message boards and photos etc. And very expensive if you have a lot of organisers.

Could add RSVP functionality to the calendars and create event specific forums.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy as my 8 year old would say before sending me of on a tangent ...
