    Chinese testing

Can you reply to this thread and post something in Chinese?

If possible, do let me know what browser you're posting in, and if its copy / pasted or typed in.

    Thanks!

ok, since I don't know any Characters I just pressed keys randomly in pinyin mode....

Safari 3.1.1. on OSX 10.5.2, traditional chinese pinyin mode

Interesting, it doesn't even survive the "preview post" correctly...

But seems to show up ok here on my end in Windows on both firefox and IE.

Looks like we have some strange encoding problem.

more precise: my second character after the ";" is not displayed correctly (doesn't work on Safari for Windoze either, as well as on my IE). The others (including those posted by via) look ok, though not in the prettiest chinese font i've seen so far...

No problem in the "reply to thread" and I can see the chinese characters in the actual post.

My browser IE 7 with Vista.

The above reads OK, but the font's unappealing and NOT easy on zee eyes... especially when the words are in italics!

    BTW, 2nd trial line reads: "Dim-ah? Tai-mmh-TAI doe-ah?"
= Well? Can you see (it) or not?

Ok, will look at how we can improve the font.

Any sites in particular where the chinese font looks good?

    Dunno any font in particular.
Am sure by tomorrow, someone will give a pointer or 2.

Pretty handy now - Helpful Chinese speakers can copy & paste bits of Chinese info from other places, e.g. locations, addresses, etc.

(BUT, perhaps... also need vigilance or else a tiniest of a minority might sneak in occasional CHEEK in a lingo NOT many here can read )
