    Recession? Well, a Yes if you talking about Hong Kong Co. (China bases factory) outgoing businesses. No, if you are talking about Retail/F&B. In general, the per basket value are up and people tend to trade up rather than down and majority of those spenders are from mainland, honestly.

    Unemployment rate is still very low, and people are still expecting bonuses. Even if there will be a "technical" recession, it would matter little in practice.

    Now if there is a huge collaspe in housing prices like what happen after '97, then yes, the impact of the recession will be very real. So far that hasn't happen yet...

    In any case, the mainland market is sustaining the HK economy.

    It is official. HK is not in recession. Forecasters were wrong
