Is there anyone taking OLQE this year? We can enrol on a preparation course, ideally, PK's, for a group discount. Let me know if you're interested. Ta!

Hi there. I am thinking about taking a course too. And cannot decide which one to take. Have u did some research and found that PK is better? I took a look at its website and that of IP learning and not much information for making a decision. Appreciate your input if any. Thanks
Hi there, I've sent you a message privately. I basically just want to get some structured materials for my self study. So cost wise, I'll pick PK (around $40k for the self learning package, not sure about group discount yet).
Hi there,
I am currently practicing in California with more than 1 year of PQE in litigation. I plan to start my career in Hong Kong in 2 years. HR informed me that since I have no experience in transactions, I would have to start as a paralegal.
Honestly, I don't want to start as a paralegal after already being an associate for several years.
If I pass the OLQE before starting my career in Hong Kong, would this exam help me skip the paralegal period?
Thank you all, I appreciate it.
If i recall, you need at least 2 years PQE to take the OLQEs (I might be wrong). Anyway with less than 5 years PQE, you will need to take all 5 papers, vs only 2 if you had 5 years PQE. Its not necessary to be a paralegal if you move to HK, because your firm could register you as a foreign lawyer instead, and you can acrue your 5 years via that route, then do your 2 OLQE papers at that point.
As per the HK Law Society, I am required to have a minimum of 2 years of PQE to be eligible to sit for the OLQEs. I confirmed this requirement while filing my application. Unfortunately, my admission date is in May. I have to wait at least two years!!
In addition, HR informed me that it would be unlikely for me to start as an associate without prior transactional experience. That's why I am curious the possibility of passing the OLQEs to potentially bypass the waiting period. If this is an option, I may consider staying in CA for an additional three years. I am so unfamiliar with the HK legal market that I am struggling to determine my next step....
Question, if I have 5y PQE, which three papers I can skip?
