    UK accountant/financial advisor

Hello, I hope this is the right place to post this.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good UK accountant (or maybe financial advisor?)

Originally moved to HK on a short term/temporary job basis but, a few years down the line, seem to be quite settled here—partly probably due to everyone getting stuck in place during the pandemic.

I’d like to make sure everything is in order back home in terms of pension, NI contributions, etcetera., but no idea where to start or what can be done from overseas.

I figured surely there are accountants out there offering this kind of service to financially clueless expats

Thank your any and all recommendations or pieces of advice!

I would be very wary of HK based financial advisors. I’m sure there are some good ones but they are paid commission so your interests may not align with theirs.

Here are a few fee only advisors in Asia

    The Fry Group (HK): https://www.thefrygroup.co.uk/hk/
    Private Capital (HK): https://private-capital.com.hk/
    Providend (SG): https://providend.com/
    Marc Ikels (SG): https://www.marcikelsconsulting.com/
Planvision (US but supports international): https://planvisionmn.com/
    Leo Wealth (HK): https://www.leowealth.com/

Private Capital seem to be quite UK expat focused.

    Hi,
    thank you for the replies.
I should have been more clear, when I say ‘uk account’, I mean an accountant back home in the UK. Someone I can communicate with from here. Not an HK accountant.
    Thanks 🙏

I think this will be a very subjective topic. Make sure they are 100 percent independent too and read the reviews. I spent the best part of 18 months (I was in no hurry) and settled on the below. Local to me when I’m back to the UK so I can drop in if I need to. Their fees are pretty competitive too.

Like I said, subjective but they’ve consolidated 4 pensions and I have an investment tailored to my risk profile. I might give it a couple more years and drop paying their annual fee (at my own risk) but I’m on the low end of the risk scale given my proximity to full retirement.

Thank you so much. I will do some unhurried research and enquiries with these companies over the holidays and hopefully find a match
