Has anyone used a Ghost Writer before?

    How does it work?
Do ghost writers specialise in their own areas, say subject matter, writing style etc?

We're looking for a ghost writer to help us write a lot of things including training manuals for work, guides for our customers etc...

A ghost writer is someone that writes stuff that is officially credited to someone else. Usually for a lot of money - say for an (auto)biography or such.

You just need a writer that can write up technical stuff for you. For a contracted rate & yes it would be advisable to find someone familiar with the subject material however it is not always necessary if you get a good enough writer - though that all comes down to how much $$ you want to spend.

Thanks for the quick reply Load Toad.

Could you give any tips on how we should go about assessing whether a writer is good for us?

What kind of manuals are to be wriitten? HR? Finance? IS&T? Processes, procedures etc. Is it in English? Chinese?

It could be interesting as I'm quite familar with this having worked in a Multi-National-Company for over 10 years.

Let me know via message to see if I can help on this for you.

    Regards,

    Northernlights

Ask for examples of their work for previous clients and contact the clients from the references to see how satisfied they were.

Again, since you don't seem to have understood LT's post, you don't want a "ghost writer" you simply want a contract / freelance writer.

well i am looking for a writer who is willing to write things we ask and is also willing to credit the writing to us.

doesn't that make this person a ghost writer?

think the only misunderstanding here is your false assumption pdlm

No - you have misunderstood. You just want a writer not a ghost writer. A 'ghost writer' is a term used for specific circumstances as I previously explained.

You just need a writer who can write technical stuff. I'd suggest the successful candidate will also require a lot of patience.
