University Station to reopen on Saturday.

Its deputy operations director, Tony Lee, said on Friday that basic facilities have now been repaired, but one of the station's four exits will remain closed.

He said extra staff will be deployed at the station on Saturday to ensure services run smoothly.

“The damage is quite severe and with the severe sort of damage, I think the time taken (for repairs) will be months. But in the last one-month period, we have already achieved a major milestone to let passengers use the basic facilities. Therefore, it is very important that tomorrow, when all the passengers use our services, please give us great tolerance”, he said.

Lee added that the railway firm will continue to conduct risk assessments and may have to adjust or even suspend its services if “situations arise”.
