Some news exclusively being reported on in Cantonese (HK01 is the best source IMO for this - even if some consider it to be pro-Beijing)
- NPP, DAB and Democratic Party drop primaries because candidates to those primaries will be considered as candidates by the EAC and thus subject to election spending rules.
- Priscilla Leung (BPA), Vincent Cheng (DAB) & Chan Hoi-yan (DAB) are rumoured to be the finalised list of candidates running in Kowloon West. They are aiming for 3 out of the 6 seats. That would mean one seat regained 'automatically' by the democrats from those catastrophic by-elections back in 2018.
- Cheng Tat-hung (incumbent Civic Party Eastern DC member) will almost certainly be succeeding Tanya Chan who is barred from running because of her prison sentence.

Some more Legco 2020 news that I didn't have time to translate this morning...
- James Tien is encouraging former NPP member Derek Yuen to compete on HK Island. The latter reckons win a seat with 40,000 votes by targeting "middle of the road" voters and by cannibalizing some of Regina's votes.
- He is also encouraging Jason Poon (new to politics I believe, chinese name 潘焯鴻) to compete in Kowloon West.
- John Tsang is helping him out in terms of Electoral Strategy.

Tarry Lee of the DAB (CCP's United Front) wants electronic voting...
Makes total sense for CCP; having its cake (nominal elections) and eating it too (they get to key in the digits).

https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...ling-boost-proChinese University political scientist Dr Ma Ngok, meanwhile, noted that the new group’s makeup was similar to that of previous alliances formed by the pro-government camp to fight the Occupy movement in 2014 and support the police force amid last year’s protests.
“Such a line-up that represents an old-fashioned way of thinking will only reinforce the beliefs of government supporters, instead of winning support from swing voters†Ma said.
Paul Tse joins James Tien's centrist coalition (mostly pro-business and moderate pro-BJ people). He will run in Kowloon East.
He was the only lawmaker to vote against the implementation of a minimum wage.
