From 50.30
Experts discuss the difficulty of reading the data and investigation of cases within China (52.07). Apparently, outside of Hubei, the only people being tested for coronavirus are those who have been to Hubei and have symptoms! Given how much transmission has happened outside of China, who knows what the real number of cases is.

I’ve not commented on the virus origin stories before, but this looks interesting as speculation, even though I’m not necessarily assigning a high probability to it. If Chinese scientists are pushing it, then either it’s plausible, or there’s something else they are covering up, but I don’t know how to judge that, so taking it at face value for now.

Not a statistician, would welcome anybody else qualified to comment.
Drove through KT and saw a crowd + TV cameras opposite / near the Smithfield MTR exits. Was wondering what was going on.Original Post Deleted

No. You can't give blood if you lived in Britain from ... to ... (I don't remember the year, during the mad cow disease period). Not because you have a British passport.
But I was denied giving blood in Japan because of my European passport. Which I found very amusing. So I asked "Why? Isn't the blood the same for everybody?". And the health officer said "Yes, it's about the same, but...". I don't remember his excuse

The bioweapon theory, if true, would be in line with China's "overreaction" to it, including medical personnel in full hazmat suits, doing everything possible to safeguard the capital from the rest of the plebs, etc. Doesn't help the rest of us though.
That South China University of Tech article referred to above looks like its been taken down.

The quarantine centres have to go somewhere in Hong Kong. Carrie & Co's delay in closing the border exacerbated this situation but now we need quarantine centres and they have to go somewhere. If there's a better place for for this one on HK Island fine, but otherwise here's as good as anywhere else (and yes, it's in my neighbourhood).Original Post Deleted
It's disappointing that people allow their dislike of the government to lose all compassion for the victims of the virus and common sense.
