Happier news from Wuhan. One question I have about the report though, is that there wasn’t any indication which mild cases turned serious, so not sure why the doctor said he wasn’t worried because it was only mild cases. (Maybe he meant not worried about cross-contamination as all were confirmed cases, but what did they do with mild cases turning serious at these temporary hospitals?)

Meanwhile down here in Australia we are being advised not to shake hands when meeting people, which is a very Australian thing to do, and instead we need to give each other a pat on the back

Well, the classic HK tourist icon (or tourist trap, depending on your view), Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen, is forced to shut due to the outbreak:

The restaurant said they are closing until further notice, its not clear whether they are closing for good or until the outbreak dies down. If it is the first case, what do you think? Unfortunate victim of the outbreak or good riddance? Personally, apart from eating there once during my early days in HK, I have never been there since, so I have no idea what the food is like there now.

Local mall has ever increasing numbers of boarded-up shops, I counted 7 around the main central area. Now maybe we can get less jewellery shops or over-priced cosmetics and get back some useful ones.

One of the two patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in Indonesia had been ill for two weeks before the authorities tested her for the virus, Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto revealed on Monday (Mar 2).

This was because she did not have a travel history to countries affected by the outbreak, he explained.
“We have done everything according to the protocols set by the WHO,” Dr Putranto said, referring to the World Health Organization.

The WHO, in declaring an international emergency last week, called on countries not to impose unnecessary trade or travel restrictions on China.
The outbreak, which began in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and has spread within the country and to 23 other countries, does not constitute a pandemic, but an epidemic with "multiple foci", she said.
From 4th Feb. Sorry, I’m still not convinced they are putting public health as their primary, let alone only, consideration.

They were too reliant on tourists... I think that answers your question regarding how the food is.

Brexit hot takes on viral epidemics:

Posh git on Skynews just said that the UK government can't use emergency laws to force people into quarantine or testing because "Brexit was about regaining personal sovereignty and it would go against the spirit of what they voted for."

I was not aware of a slogan on the side of bus telling people that Brexit would allow them to chose to die gasping for breath as their organs shut down.
