Well yeah, China wasted the world precious time (potentially 2-3 weeks), but what has the rest of the world been doing in the 6-8 weeks since the Jan 23rd Wuhan lockdown when it was obvious this was serious and there were health experts warning of the severity of this virus? Arguably those governments that haven't taken this seriously since then are not much better than China since they've had good information since late Jan (with the clinical reports, models, etc.). I read a report on Caixin Global in late Jan where an infectious disease expert from HK (can't remember his name) visited Wuhan and said that the horse has bolted and this thing will spread globally. Yet most of the few people who read this said he was fear-mongering.

Here's the article on January 23rd... the first link is the original article in Chinese, the second and third links are in English (the Daily Mail and the Epoch Times of all publications, LOL, looks like this was too fear-mongering at that time for the mainstream news to reprint)

Anyone that didn't know Trump was a racist by now has had their head up their ass!

Any mea culpas for calling many on this forum "fucking hyprochondriacs" a few weeks back? Also recall you stating you would "shut up" if this thing turned out to be the serious pandemic that it is (I won't hold my breath)

That is a fair point and I understand where that sentiment is coming from. I can ensure you I am not trolling, I really do think you are all a bunch of fucking hypochondriacs.

I distinctly recall saying I'd shut up once WuFlu deaths outnumber actual Flu deaths. Still long ways to go. And yes, I am aware that people "overreacting" and taking the current measures will likely flatten the curve in a way that will prove me "right".

Over 1000 deaths yesterday which gives nearly 400,000 deaths at an annual rate. Flu comes in at around 250,000 to 600,000 deaths per year doesn't it? So we are pretty much on a par but covid19 hasn't hit Africa or South America really yet. It is just getting started.

Straight question: Do you think we are we still fucking hypochondriacs? Or were you wrong to insult everyone else?

I personally haven't used those words, but I certainly have been talking about overreacting for a long time - and I was very wrong about that. It turns out a) that overreacting gives a lot better results and b) this is a lot bigger and escalates a lot faster than I imagined.

I still reserve the right to be skeptical next time (because I'm an a̶s̶s̶h̶o̶l̶e̶ contrarian), but I have absolutely learned a lesson about how fast something like this can escalate.

The weird thing is ... this might actually happen, given how much general flu spread has slowed down in many countries due to extra cautionary measures. Also, the elderly tend to be vaccinated for flu and not for coronaflu.

Either way, hope you're not right ...
