From the Mike Rowse opinion piece yesterday

Could the fiasco have been avoided? And what was the rationale behind forcing restaurants to close at 6pm, then 9pm and 10pm? Were these reasoned steps or simply civil service incrementalism? Is there scientific justification for allowing only two diners per table rather than four or is this just a stab in the dark?

The problem as I see it is not somewhere like Repulse Bay or Shek O. How do you socially distance at Deepwater Bay, Hap Mun Bay or Trio beach. That I suspect may be half the problem.

As to restaurants ~ 2, 4, 6 people 6, 9 or 10pm or possibly a new time posted today. I still don't get it. They are either safe or not safe and as soon as we get any mini spike we will be back to 2 per table (or partitioned table because that miraculously helps) and 6pm

On what Sing Tao posted above, does that mean a group of 4 exiting a restaurant can technically be nabbed by the cops? Their “common purpose” being eating?

I believe the point of the restriction for hours and seats is to make it inconvenient for people to go out to eat. It detours them to stay at home or order take out. If someone must absolutely needs to eat out, then there is still the option albeit eating before a certain time or alone/with another person.

It's not to actually say the disease starts after 10pm or with 3 or more people.

What it means is that you CANNOT protest or express any views of disagreement against the government or be buying school art supplies around people raising their hands. But now, children, you're allowed to eat together. Kind of.

Surely the social distancing number will increase if they are opening sport venues? How do you effectively monitor more than 4 people on a football pitch for example, or even kids in a park. Unless I have got this totally wrong.
