Won’t be many airlines escaping bans under these arrangements

Won't be many helpers arriving or leaving.

Do we know what kind of flights that would have affected in the last week's?

“You know where the airport is” isn't going to cut it as a retort on here for much longer

Very tough for the airlines... short of imposing pre-departure quarantine at an airport hotel and conducting the testing themselves I'm not sure what they could do to avoid this and the mess it'll make of their scheduling. I guess they'll suck it up while demand is so slack everywhere but we'll end up with even fewer direct flights over time.

They are effectively banning flights from India, Pakistan, Phils and Indo.
A DH I know tells me that you can buy a “negative” test in Manila for 2,000 Peso. Cheaper than getting a real test too!

Trying to understand the rules. Say there are flve flights a day from Manila, A,B,C,D,E.

Is this saying if each flight had 4 new variant cases in the week that would be OK? If flight A has 5 though and the others zero then all flights are stopped?

Let us know when you figure it out... parsing the new rules to figure the restrictions out is a bit too much for my brain.

The ways the rules previously worked was based on flight number - so flight A transgressing any of the new rules (which none of us yet fully understand) will have no impact on flights B, C, D, E even if from the same carrier.

Emirates feels the pain more because there is only one flight per day between Dubai and HK via Bangkok

But looking at the wording on the tweet in the first post that is changed for variants.
