How many people are influenced by the headlines, but don't read the details, or the follow ups?
Perhaps the headline would not be run IF the paper knew it would easily be debunked. How did the the Government do at debunking these events that showed correlation?

remember when toilet paper was scarce? people will line up to snap the last jab available
This has been done hasn't it?

Do you really believe papers would not run headlines if they knew they could be easily debunked? The debunking is just more publicity and a chance for another story "government tries to cover up......".

People are influenced, even amongst educated expats.

I think other countries have successfully shown the sensationalism of the papers to be bunkum and kept on track vaccination rates.

All politicians and governments bend the truth but some are more trusted than others on there intent and recent past record. I don't think we have a press credibility issue.

Amusing to see many being all rah rah about freedom when it suits them but all of a sudden, they are quite happy to trample on other people's freedom when it suits.

It's ridiculous to try to make businesses enforce or cater to vaccinated people. How could it be expected to track and or trust gymgoer to wear or not to wear masks when vaccinated. It's ludicrous and unpractical. And only allowing vaccinated people would hurt businesses that have already been hurt enough. Not going to happen.

What works in Hong Kong is money, that is the easiest and most effective way to push people to do something. Either you tax the unvaccinated in some way or your reward the vaccinated.

It's also not realistic to expect relaxation of measures for vaccinated people since it's not guaranteed they are not carriers particularly with Sinovac so until the population has reached a higher level of vaccination, not going to happen. Equally ridiculous to think the government will treat Sinovac differently than Pfizer. Not going to happen.

That would probably be David Hui:
"Despite authorities having reached an advance purchase agreement with AstraZeneca for the first batch to arrive in late June, Hui said they can wait for another six months for more clinical data of the vaccine before deciding if they will purchase it."Some pharmaceutical firms are starting to study a second generation of vaccines, he said. "There is no need to rush to buy the third or fourth vaccine for Hong Kong."

Yet another ridiculous affirmation. Second generation vaccines are just around the corner. Not necessarily illogical to wait for a vaccine that will be more effective against variants when there is no threat nor urgency in Hong Kong. Not what I would do but understandable.

    THIS.

As long as all the ‘wait and see’ brigade (none of whom can identify what change will be needed for them to get the jab) don’t expect anyone to wear masks or tolerate their covid paranoia.

Call them "designer vaccines," put them in luxury shops, allow only a few people in at a time, charge 10,000 dollars for them. Oh and say they are "limited edition" vaccines...
