Sigh.... maybe they will let elderly fully vaccinated people out of care homes after 2 years of lockdown.... a haircut would be good.

Official duties are exempted ... I am quite confident you guys knew that .. (just adding this for the sake of the clueless who might think the govt had an obligation to send a parking attendant type person to start issuing tickets in that meeting)

Send the CS an email with a copy of your ID card and proof of address if you really do need to know if a exemption was issued for this meeting.

I don't understand why you are constantly normalizing or being apologetic towards authoritarian policies.
Not normalising it for sake of being apologetic. Just pointing out that ANY and EVERY country has an exception list - some of those exceptions are designed for those "in power"...

Dunno what country you come from, but I suspect if DJ Solomon and Diamond Hands Dimon wanted to walk in there for a meeting - exceptions would be made.

    EU List:

The temporary travel restrictions should also not apply to people with an essential function or need, including

    • healthcare professionals, health researchers, and elderly care professionals
    • frontier workers
    • seasonal workers in agriculture
    • transport personnel
    • diplomats, staff of international organisations and people invited by international organisations whose physical presence is required for the well-functioning of these organisations, military personnel and humanitarian aid workers and civil protection personnel in the exercise of their functions
    • passengers in transit
    • passengers travelling for imperative family reasons
    • seafarers
    • persons in need of international protection or for other humanitarian reasons
    • third-country nationals travelling for the purpose of study
    • highly qualified third-country workers if their employment is necessary from an economic perspective and the work cannot be postponed or performed abroad

It's actually an interesting thought though, politics aside - should they have done maybe one night in a DQH with a standard covid test, just so they could experience Hong Kong's quarantine system close up?

They would have been so impressed by the rooms and service at the Mandarin that the suggestion would be to extend to 28 days quarantine. They cant see what people are complaining about..

As I posted earlier, whether you're a Covid expert or just a nobody, if you're travelling from China to HK you do not need to quarantine. This has been in place since September 2021 (and even earlier if you're an HK resident).
