In the next exciting instalment CHP will declare that the 6th wave is ripping through the community concurrent with the 5th.

Burn the textbooks and convert the schools into quarantine centres!

Seriously though... someone seems desperate to report zero local cases as a new category of “possibly import related” has just been added to “imported” and “import related”. Clearly a bit like Xian the stats are being managed to “zero something”. I guess with Omicron bubbling in Zhuhai and doubtless elsewhere the narrative is gonna have to be managed. Suspect they will push on with opening to/from the mainland soon after the Olympics. The clamours of “HK the world city is finished” are getting a bit too loud and frequent... HK2.0 (a great place to list your Chinese tech company) here we come.

Three weeks of quarantine done, here's another two!

Gotta be crazy or desperate to be travelling now.

"He also said guests who are staying close to the affected rooms would have to be quarantined for an extra 14 days as a precaution."

So far, Hong Kong’s fifth wave has not brought the exponential explosion of cases many had feared, but health minister Sophia Chan Siu-chee warned on Sunday that even if the outbreak was under control, current social-distancing measures would not be fully relaxed after the Lunar New Year.

Instead, Chan said, a gradual approach was planned to ensure the long-awaited reopening of the border with mainland China
If they are testing frozen food, I’m guessing they are going to be testing pet animals too.

Now, local circulation is going to be sacrificed to “reopening” to Mainland, on the assumption all will be right and dandy. Can’t laugh at Singapore anymore, at least their escape is to less restricted places.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen has a Delta outbreak too. Pure coincidence I’m sure.

Hong Kong students taken aback by UK’s approach to ‘living with the virus’

Such a non-story honestly. I don't know how they found people who are complaining about the UK's approach when compared to Hong Kong's. Seems silly for them to bitch about the stress of getting COVID in the UK when Hong Kong will chuck you in a hospital for a minimum of 10 days with a 14 days of extra self isolation after recovery, all while your friends and family are pissed that you're the reason that they get an all-inclusive stay at Penny's Bay.

Most Hong Kong and Mainland students I know are pretty happy / contempt with the situation in the UK given how open everything is and how little risk COVID poses to them, as most of them are fully vaxxed and boostered with Pfizer and Moderna (with maybe a cheeky bit of Sinovac or Sinopharm too). Only thing I can definitely say is that Asian students in general will be better with their mask-wearing and hygiene than local or other international students.

Also it's weird to see them complain about not being able to get NHS responders to go out and get food and medicine for them. Literally every grocery store delivers, either the next day on their websites or within half an hour on Deliveroo and Uber Eats. The volunteer responders are meant for those really in need who just are not able to access these services, not some sheltered international students who will definitely be able to order groceries and food in.

You are talking about people born and raised with a helper. They couldn't even boil an egg if they tried.

Average 17,000 combined daily first dose. That’s a lot of people going to be impacted by the no vax no entry rules. Government needs to get tougher on what it includes and exclude the no vaxxers from any new voucher scheme. Maybe the last one is all they need to do?

You guys are getting all excited by a writer who is associated with Regina Ip’s party. Aren’t we all already familiar with the establishment bubble by now.
