22nd Jan : "Omicron Outbreak" CE Press Conference

    In attendance:

    1. Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam
    2. Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan
    3. Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan
    4. Controller of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Edwin Tsui
    5. Assistant Director of Housing (Estate Management), Mr Ian Luk
    Streamed here:

    https://webcast.info.gov.hk/revamp/eng/livecast.html

    Highlights

    • 105 Cases involving 3 blocks in Kwai Chung. Source is the lady at Silka who infected family members, one of whom went to the refuse room, came into contact with a cleaner which started the outbreak. Confirmed as Omicron. First case was found on 20th Jan. 20 on 21st Jan and today 105 cases.

    • 40+ cleaners involved in this estate and being sent to holiday camp. Will be dealt with humanely.

    • Further measures:

(This is all over the place - they really do need to hire someone to structure the press conferences)

      • Ying Kwai / Yat Kwai House - 5 day RTD.
      • Ying Kwai - Difficult to arrange dinner / meal boxes tonight. 3 meals a day to be provided
      • More "1 day" RTDs in a number of other blocks (may be extended)
      • Rest of the blocks will be under CTN (repeated tests, not locked down)
      • Kwai Chung Estate testing to be boosted to collect 30K specimens a day

Will continue to listen in .. but I don't think anything else is going to be announced - especially in terms of quarantine, social distancing, beaches or birthday parties.

if you’re a resident you’ve got about 30 mins to escape ! No free meals until tomorrow

They SERIOUSLY seem to believe they can contain it within this estate. Do they ever study global models?

The ISD or the CE's communication team seriously needs to consider that most of the shit in these press conferences is repeated about 20 times. It is meaningless.

There is no need to mention that the guy is Pakistani.

    But I have these questions.

    1) Why was an individual who does not live in that housing block given access to go rummage in the refuse room?

    2) Why is their a food shortage for delivery. Someone please give the food panda app to person responsible for ordering food.

    3) If it is such that it takes 9 seconds to catch it at the MTR exit as stated by experts, why are residents of blocks under compulsory testing told to ride the elevators crammed to go and get tested ?

My bet is that this will end up being a 21 day lockdown. Look at the size of the freebies they gave. A whole 10 roll bog roll.....
