An unofficial spokesperson for a department of the HKSAR Government has stated off the record that the only way to get within fist waving distance of The Most Sacred and Utmostly Revered People's Republic Of China Torch ,[TMSAURPRCT] is to don a Red T shirt, matching headband and a 'Asia's World Equestrian Hub' lapel pin, and be a patriot.

I added a comment to the photo gallery ...

The cartoon ignores that the bank that owns this guy's house which was foreclosed a few months back, is probably also owned by the Chinese...

hey, I live out in Shatin, and On King street would be the best place to see. I don't think pro-Tibetans would come out here for protests.

    'Show WITW is OBL Here!"

The same unofficial spokesperson [see my earlier post] said that the only protest which would be barely tolerated would be a 'Show WITW is OBL Here!" demonstration, provided both feet were kept on the ground during the proceedings and that the banner was no more then a quarter of the size of the PRC flag carried in the other hand.

I must admit that I am sorely tempted to get hold of a Tibetan flag and wave it as the torch goes past along Hennessy Road. Anyone know where I can get one at short notice? I'm coming to the conclusion that a few more people need to stand up and be counted and try to make sure that free speech isn't trampled on in this supposedly autonomous SAR in the same way that it is in the mainland.

    I know what you mean

I don't actually want to protest about Tibet - I tend to think it's none of my business - but I DO think that upholding the right for free speech and for others to PEACEFULLY protest is important.

A quick glance at the LIST shows two non Chinese, a hockey player and the Ceo of PCCW. Perhaps there just aren't any more
who are patriotic and non democratic .

While the list is numbered there is no timesheet so one would have to guesstimate where to be in order cheer on your favorite olympian.

All the more reason I feel to watch the procession on the telly.

I really want to see if Tim Fok will be exposing his kneecaps

Also I get the feeling it won't be as much fun as say SF where my main man Zombie had a riotious time.

yep I second that. I would love to get a huge tibet flag and hang it out of my office window which would be on full view from the harbour
