This is the biggest question. How much is protection and how much is protectionism?

McCarthy tried people for what they were thinking.
Weinstein, Spacey are accused of what they‘ve been _doing_ (and so far there are hardly any denials).
    Quite the difference methinks.

If you're coming to China, make sure you have a thick skin! Chinese people by and in large have absolutely no social filter and no political correctness! A breath of fresh air or an uncomfortable experience? Come and find out!

not sure if it is banned but when I tried last month to make a call the line was disrupted after a few seconds and we had to switch to voice call

I've not had any problems using Skype for Business in China. I don't use Skype for personal calls but use WeChat and QQ video calls regularly.

22 months in jail for jokingly calling Chinese President Xi Jinping as Xi Baozi or “Xi the Steamed Bun” and then calling him a “Maoist thug”

Only about 1 year left in HK until Article 23 will also potentially make this an offence in HK
