Great way to get imported cases to exceed local ones to deflect blame.

Other reports said that in the period leading up to next week’s Tomb Sweeping Holiday, the fact that urns are being distributed at a rate of 500 a day at each of the city's eight mortuaries could mean that 40,000 people died, instead of the official number of 2,535.

Wuhan is circa 10 million people. Which means somewhere over 100,000 deaths a year naturally. Or 10k a month.

40,000 deaths since December is not surprising in a city of that size.

You make a good point about taking into account the natural rate of decease. Using your number of 1% a year though (which may be on the high side considering the shape of their population pyramid, I don’t know), that’s actually 8333 a month, and their lockdown began late January. So 2 months of natural attrition would be 16666 people passing, and excess mortality around 23k.

Yikes at this: empty “thermometer” that will never detect any fever temperature.

40000, really? According to cellphone descriptions it should be in the millions. Somehow they can't keep there alternative facts straight.

You should not be questioning other poster's grasp of numbers when your own grasp on reality is sketchy at best.
