Agree. Would I defend Brits everywhere? Definitely not.

The reason for selfishness and rudeness in China are the famines after Mao took over and being forced to kill your family members in the cultural revolution. Plus poverty until 20 years ago. And killing your daughters. Plus other pleasant Chinese phenomenons. There's no room for manners when that's going on. Widely documented in several studies.

Just yesterday I walked out of a restaurant before ordering when the Chinese were shouting at the waiter across the room any time they had demands. Fucking arseholes. Hong Kong folks can be rude like anyone else but the Chinese take it to the extreme. Generalising but they really take lack of manners and being a complete knob to another level. They just don't know better. It's their culture. Or lack of it.

Hong Kong is not in China. Part of it as a SAR. There's a border in case you haven't noticed.
I get your point, but don't forget it's a massive generalization and that always has limitations.

I've experienced incredible generosity in China, traveling as a white foreigner. Strangers have offered to book didi for my way home after my train arrival, strangers have bought lunch for me, strangers have guided me on hikes, offered me free (safe!) rides, and of course lots of friendly, curious conversations. Chinese people have been some of the most generous to me as a traveler from any of the countries I've traveled to. I would say only the Japanese have shown similar levels of generosity (to a foreigner).

I have been very touched by the kindness of strangers in China, so there's definitely a human generosity there, too.

Typical, just look for every fine print.

Your over generalization on mainland Chinese is what I dislike. When I am out and about doing my things and I see these type of behaviours in public, I will generally spoke up.

    Thanks for the kind words!

I live in North America majority of my life and I happen to be HKPR. I been living in mainland China since 2024 and is my own choice. There are good and bad in mainland China, yes, no doubt but they have been very good to me and I am thankful for that.

    Which translates as wrong.

Look I get and agree with your point. I have met many kind, lovely mainlanders. In my experience they outnumber the nasty ones many times over. But you just went a bit over the top perhaps.

    Perhaps.

I am more of the offensive comments from that HKMusic guy. The comment to him stands and you can stand out of it.

No one could accurately predict past five yrs I suppose!

Look, we all face different challenges in different phases of our lifes. Is how you handle it that makes or breaks. I moved from North America back to Asia with good intentions and building a new life. Would be nice to get some positivity lol. I do still live between the two continents so I can always move back.
