    From a Chinese perspective, it's protecting its own sovereignty and a matter of national security.

    From a foreign perspective, it's protecting an authoritarian regime no matter what.

    Both views are justified, just depends on where you're looking from. That being said, I've never heard of any country, ever, that does not want to maintain its own sovereignty.

    All countries care about sovereignty but very few run 'education' cartoons for young kids telling them to be wary of foreigners and spy on your parents.

    Maybe not at this current point in time but most countries have had some sort of propaganda. It can also manifest itself in many other forms, whether subtle or obvious and it certainly doesn't have to be a cartoon.

    We ( The West ) sooooooo did it during WW2 and especially during 1950's McCarthyism ie Check under your bed for a red etc

    We've all done it at some time or another.
